A 20-year partnership between St. Lawrence University and AES Distributed Energy will help further the university in its carbon-neutral goal, as well as yield $1.5 million in savings over the next two decades. The partnership will reduce the school’s carbon emissions by 15 percent. The energy from the solar facility is delivered to National Grid and through New York Power Authority remote net metering program, the university can offset its carbon emissions. More than 8,600 solar panels make up the 2.9 MW DC facility. The site is located on approximately 30 acres near the town of Watertown.
