The State of Hawaii has established aggressive goals to increase its renewable and clean energy production. With a goal to generate 100 percent clean energy by 2045, the state has implemented regulation, processes, and programs designed to increase renewable energy production. AES’ portfolio of solar PV facilities helps contribute to meeting these aggressive goals. Twelve ground-mounted projects ranging from 500 kW to 1 MW each deliver nearly 9 MW DC of renewable energy annually to O‘ahu and Maui islands.  The Feed-in-Tariff program which offered fixed-rate incentives for specific renewable energy technologies was implemented in 2008 and was closed to new applicants in 2013.
